WISY 4-STEP SYSTEM
WISY 4-STEP SYSTEM
RMS has adopted WISY’s 4 step system. The 4-Step System will minimize system maintenance and create a higher water quality for your rainwater harvesting system. By using pre-tank filtration, the 4-Step System will reduce the amount of particulate that enters the tank and as a result, will reduce the amount of particulate that is then pumped out of the tank. By reducing particulates in the rainwater harvesting system, you can prolong the life of your pumping and filtration equipment as well as eliminate the need to clean debris from your tank.
Before entering the tank for storage, rainwater should be both filtered and aerated. Filtration removes large particulate matter, which frequently both carries and feeds bacteria. Removal of this particulate matter, along with oxygenation of the water, greatly reduces the number of harmful bacteria in the tank.
WISY pre-tank filters accomplish both of these tasks, protecting the water quality in the tank.WISY Filtersare also self-cleaning and require minimal annual maintenance.

Smoothing Inlets are designed to direct the water upwards upon entrance to the tank. This prevents disturbing the healthy "bio-film" that has settled at the bottom of the tank. The rush of water directly into the bottom of a tank without a smoothing inlet would stir up fine sediment (think of quickly pouring water into a fish-bowl) that could then be drawn in by the pump. The "bio-film" at the bottom of the tank actually works to eat any bad bacteria that may enter the tank and help create a healthy water environment.
The third step in theWISY 4-Step System is the floating filter, which draws water in to the pump from below the surface level to avoid taking in any small particulate that may be floating. Incorporating this step promotes a longer pump life by inhibiting the entrance of particulates in the pump while lessening the post-tank treatment.
Tank overflow is essential for a healthy water environment. The WISY overflow devices will siphon small, floating particulate off the surface of the water, while also providing a path for excess incoming rainwater to overflow to. These overflow devices also protect back-flow from storm drains.
Following these easy four steps ensures minimal particulate in the water, which makes down-stream filtration methods more effective and minimizes frequency of maintenance.
Check gutters for organic matter and debris
Check downpsout connections for organic matter and debris
Wash stainless steel filter insert 2-3 times per year
Reduce the frequency of post-tank filtration component maintenance
NEVER replace components
NEVER clean the tank
Check gutters for organic matter and debris
Check downspout connections for organic matter and debris
Clean filters after every rainfall
Replace cartridges in post-tank filtration components more frequently
Replace failing components over time
Drain and clean tanks yearly
